God's Will, Satan’s Will, or Our Will- Which Will It Be?
“After
everything is said and done, there’s a lot more said than done.”
Regrettably, I know this statement is true for me and my life and
ministry. How about yours? Jesus said that it is the ones who do
the will of God who will enter the Kingdom of Heaven. And “He who
loves Me, keeps My commandments.” God’s will is revealed in the law
of Christ, the law of faith. This doctrine of Christ is recorded,
among other places, in the Gospel of Matthew, chapters five through
seven. Please take the time to read what Jesus had to say in these
chapters. “Meditate in them day and night so that you may observe
to do all that is written in it.” If you do that and teach others
to do it, you will be called great in the kingdom of Heaven, but if
you diminish one of the least of Christ’s commandments and teach
others to do so, you will be called least in the kingdom of Heaven.
We will be blessed if we hear Christ’s law, and do Christ’s law,
and teach Christ’s law, but if we hear it and teach it without
doing it, we will be like the Pharisees who heard God’s law, and
taught God’s law that was given to them by Moses, but did not do
what was important and essential in that law. As a matter of fact,
there are many in the church today who are doing the same thing
with Christ’s law. Jesus said that unless our righteousness (right
standing with God by grace through faith, resulting in right doing
towards God and others) exceeds that of the Scribes and Pharisees,
we will in no way enter the kingdom of Heaven. He also said that
those who hear and do His sayings will be like a man who builds his
house on a solid rock foundation, which results in his protection
from whatever life can throw at it, as well as rewards on the Day
of Judgment. But those who hear His sayings, but do not practice
doing them, will be like a man who builds his house on sinking
sand. It will not stand up under what life is going to throw at it,
neither will the one living in that house stand without loss on the
Day of Judgment. (Paraphrased).
...Knowing
God’s will, retaining God’s will, and remembering to do God’s will
in our hearts, minds, and bodies is essential to perfecting and
performing God’s will in our lives. “He that looks into the perfect
law of liberty and continues in it, not being a forgetful hearer,
but a doer of the work, this man shall blessed in His deeds.” “This
is God’s will for you, even your sanctification.” God wants to make
us all His holy saints without spot or blemish. We must continue in
Christ, the Word of God and His words, the Holy Scriptures, if we
are to live and walk in the blessings of God and be a blessing to
others instead of a curse. The Holy Spirit is here to lead us into
all Truth, sound doctrine, or the law of Christ. He will convict us
when we slip up and lead us back to a life of disciplined
meditation in God’s Holy Book if we stray from it, but let’s follow
His lead and learn to stray no more by doing what we already know
to do, practicing what we preach, walking the talk, and
personalizing our revelations. Lord, revive Your Church again;
restore the works of Your hands; grant us repentance from all our
sins; revive Your Church again, in the Word of God, in the Holy
Spirit, in the name of Jesus; revive your church again! “Let
whoever names the name of Jesus depart from iniquity.”
God’s will led Jesus, the Son of Man, to the cross. The cross was
His sanctification that led to His glorification and leads to our
salvation, sanctification, and glorification in Him. Had Jesus
chosen His own will over His heavenly Father’s will regarding the
“cup” that God was requiring Him to partake of, where would He be
and where would we be today? Think about it. Thank God He chose to
deny Himself and take up His cross and do God’s will instead of His
own. “If this cup can pass from me, then let it; nevertheless, not
my will, but your will be done.” "The righteous requirement of the
law of God is to love the Lord your God with all your heart, mind,
soul, and strength and to love your neighbor as yourself." "The
righteous requirement of the law is fulfilled in us who walk not
after the flesh, but after the Spirit." Jesus said, “My words are
Spirit and they are Life.”
God and His Son, His law, His will, His word, and His Spirit are
all one, and "God is love." We must love God and others more than
ourselves, like Jesus did. God has a will; Satan has a will; and
you and I have wills. God’s will is leading us to our own cross,
and Satan is trying to keep us from it. Jesus said, “He who would
be My disciple indeed, let him deny himself, take up his own cross
daily and follow Me. For He who seeks to gain his life will lose
it, but he that loses his life for My sake will gain eternal
life”
“Reckon yourselves therefore dead indeed to sin, and alive to God
through Jesus Christ our Lord. For sin shall not have dominion over
you, because you are not under the law but under grace” and “The
grace of God teaches us to say ‘No’ to ungodliness and worldly
passions, and to live self-controlled, upright, and godly lives in
this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope – the glorious
appearing of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, Who gave
Himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for
Himself a people that are His very own, eager to do what is
good.”
To walk in love is God's will for us, and the love walk will lead
us to our own cross daily. To love sacrificially is a choice we
must make if we are to be Christian believers, disciples, and
saints. The choice is yours and mine - God’s will, Satan’s will, or
our will. Which will it be?
